Hurricane Irene? Perhaps not.

For those of you who don't know, sister E lives in North Carolina.  Our recent exchange:

E: Ahoy!
Me: What up yo?  Are you drowned?
E: No.  It was a pretty disappointing showing here.
Me: Ha! "I was disappointed by the noticeable lack of hurricane."
E: It's true.  We even had a party in its honor, to no avail.

  1. Oh, the hurricane was devastating alright: 40 people dead, roads washed out from North Carolina to Vermont, many many homes lost. Virginia Beach and Norfolk got hit pretty bad. Lots of beachfront weddings had to be relocated inland. Unfortunately for New England, they don't have much flat space so when rain comes heavily, it quickly roils through valleys and in no time at all, the hillsides are washed clean of WHATEVER was there... it is a big mess!
There were power outages and flooding in low-lying areas in Raleigh, Cary ++. Town of Goldsboro was pretty much wiped out. We were just lucky.
